‘Class Dojo’ is a web based program which allows teachers to track pupil’s positive behaviours easily and efficiently. The program is based on points and your child can be given points for things like being on task, being respectful, participating or working hard. Teachers can also add new skills depending on classroom needs. For example the teacher may add a skill to ‘use more incidental Welsh’ and your child could earn points for doing this. The skills that earn your child dojo points may differ from class to class. The points that are awarded throughout the week amount to a whole class total which is recorded and taken into Friday’s assembly. These totals are read out and the class with the highest total receives the ‘Class Dojo Cup’. Teachers will also use dojo points to arrange their own celebration of achievements of groups and individuals in class.
We feel this new system has improved standards across the school and has encouraged the children to be more aware of their actions. Also one of the greatest features of ‘Class Dojo’ is that it allows us to share with you all the good things that happen in school in a short weekly behaviour and skills report and our hope is that this will help you better understand the progress of your student’s behaviour on a week-to-week basis.
