Additional Learning Needs (ALN) / Anghenion Dysgu Ychwanegol (ADY)

At Drury Primary School, we are committed to providing an inclusive, nurturing, and supportive learning environment where every child is valued and is encouraged to achieve their full potential. We recognise that some pupils may experience additional barriers to learning and may require extra support at different times throughout their educational journey.

Our approach to Additional Learning Needs is centred on understanding each child’s individual strengths, needs and aspirations. We work closely with pupils, parents, staff and external agencies to ensure that appropriate support, interventions and strategies are in place to help every learner make progress and participate fully in school life.

We believe in a strengths-based approach that celebrates what children can do while providing tailored support to help them develop confidence, independence and resilience. Depending on each learner’s needs, support may include targeted interventions, adapted teaching approaches, specialist advice or personalised learning provision.

Mrs Kate Barnes is our Additional Learning Needs Coordinator (ALNCo) and Mrs Ashely is our ALNCo TA. Mrs Barnes and Mrs Ashley work closely with pupils, families, teachers and outside agencies to coordinate provision and ensure that learners with ALN receive the support they require to thrive.
